Organize a Special Session

Special Sessions to be held during the NRSM are actively organized each year. If you are interested in organizing a special session, please send the following items to the relevant Commission Chair(s) by May 1 of each year. After May 1, you can still organize a special session if you can attract enough speakers before the paper submission deadline of each year. When proposing a special session after May 1, send the session information to both the relevant commission chairs(s) as well as the USNC-URSI chair to help make sure it can be included in the program.

  • Title of the special session
  • Names of at least two organizers
  • Emails of at least two organizers
  • Commission(s) that are relevant to the session (see the list of Commissions here or the Commission pages here for information about each commission)

Special sessions may be held as either a half session of exactly 5 papers or as a full session of exactly 10 papers. To help attract speakers, note that students can apply for student support to attend the conference. Also, keep in mind that special session organizers are usually more successful at attracting summaries / abstracts to their session if they personally reach out to potential speakers.

Once your special session is accepted, please check that your session is listed on the conference website here to ensure it will be included in the program and to ensure that you receive any communications relating to special sessions.
